Author Mary Bleckwehl will be visiting with the K-6th graders on Thursday, February 22 here at Spring Grove Schools. It is always a great time to have an author come visit.

If you would like to pre-order any of her books, please print out this ORDER FORM and return it to school before February 16 with payment. Order forms will also be sent home with students.

Mary Evanson Bleckwehl has a Masters Degree in Educational Management from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts and a B.S. in Elementary Education from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.  She has taught in elementary schools in Iowa and Minnesota and has held administrative positions in higher education in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Iowa and Minnesota.

As a child growing up on a dairy farm in northeast Iowa, Mary loved school but had nightmares about not getting up in time to make the bus. She did make it to school every day and has created Henry, an imaginative youngster who-in Mary's first book, is in a predicament every morning as his family just can't seem to get him to school on time.  And with the release of her second book, Henry has a new problem! He is hungry so he eats and wonders why he doesn't feel big and strong after eating all that junk food.  Using years of teaching experiences and stories from children, Mary has created touching tales that will resonate with every child from 3 to 93.

Together with her husband, Mary has raised a daughter and two sons and lives in Northfield, Minnesota. She still spends plenty of time in schools as an author as well as a substitute teacher. Mary attempts to be on time and eat healthy...but may be related to Henry a bit in those departments!
